Halloween 2009

The girls worked very hard to carve their jack-o'-lanterns a few weeks ago. I forgot that, unlike in Alaska, pumpkins don't freeze solid outside and last for weeks. Nope, they rot. Or they will rot, if they have a chance and Lucy doesn't eat them off the back porch the first day they are put out.

And here they are. They look so happy. It's because they don't know Lucy is out there. Waiting.

So the girls designed and carved new ones today. Notice, they look a little mean. Coincidence? I think not.

This Halloween, Laurel wore her Silvermist costume that she got for her birthday.

Meggie decided she wanted to be Mariposa--a fairy from the Barbie movies.

We went trick-or-treating in one of the American housing areas. As said, trick-or-treating is not yet very prevalent in German neighborhoods.

Meggie was very excited, because this was her first time going door to door. In Alaska, we always opted for indoor carnivals because of the cold.

Of course, it's cold here too. Note Laurel's little red nose.

But the fairies returned triumphant from their trick-or-treating.

To sort and categorize their candy.

Or just to eat it.

And crash after the sugar high.
