Pictures (random)

Here are some random, recent snapshots from our environs. We got a new camera a few weeks ago. In large part because our point-and-shoot got damaged on the London trip. The new camera is a DSLR and I've been enjoying trying different lenses on it, especially vintage lenses.

We all miss living in the little house in the valley. We're currently in a much more crowded, urban area. But natural beauty is still everywhere. We just have to look a little harder. (And occasionally employ a telephoto lens.)

There's been a lot of rain lately. This is around town--right before the drops started to fall.

All that water does make things look pretty, though. View large for a look through one of nature's own lenses.

In our little yard. Instead of birch trees and wild cranberry thickets, we now have a garden hedge. But there are interesting things hiding in there.

What kind of DSLR did you get?

After a lot of Flickr-viewing and forum-reading, I went with the Pentax K-X. Primary considerations were low-light performance and price. As a plus, I found that it makes using completely nonelectronic vintage lenses a snap and it's very small. Fits comfortably in my hand.
