Having fun

Hello, everyone.

We had a wonderful time in Florida. (Didn't fix much! Just replaced some things. Big renovations are slated for next spring.)

And we're having a wonderful time back in Alabama.

Highlights from our vacation so far:

Having fun with PawPaw in Florida, where the water was warm and calm for the first few days.

Then Ike brought rain and roiling seas. We watched the storm's approach with great concern for Louisiana and Texas.

The tide rose enough to deposit natural tidepools onshore overnight. It was convenient compensation for the double-red flags that kept us out of the waves for half a week.

High tides also work well for filling your moat.

When the natural pools receded, Alan dug and filled his own.

Laurel, being 2, enjoys the sand a little less than her big sister.

After a while, it's time for a nap...

...Before going back into the warm water.

Back in Alabama we enjoyed being at Grandma and PawPaw's house and spending time with Derrick, Kelly and little Spencer. So cute. :o)

We also enjoyed the Birmingham Zoo, which is very nice. Here are Grandma, the girls and I on the zoo's train.

Here's one of two happy little girls.

We leave for California on Saturday morning. We'll see you from California.

We hope all is well where you are.
