Birthday run, jump, skip, craft bash: Meggie is 7

So, I'm hoping to get caught up on my blogging while we're on holiday and other people are doing all of our cooking--and our chores at home are remaining happily UNdone.

:o)

Meggie turned 7 in December. She's one of those people whose birthday falls near THE birthday. Because of that, I've often thought it would be hard to get anyone to attend a birthday party on the actual day, but, apparently, not so!

Meggie had a bunch of girls over to one of the local indoor playgrounds. This particular playground also employs a "craft lady." She's usually only there on the weekends, but we made a special request for her to attend on Meggie's birthday, which she did.

So, the kids ate, drank (Carpri Suns) and made merry Christmas crafts between jumping around on trampolines and hurtling themselves down swirly slides. Sounds like a recipe for a hangover, doesn't it?

But they had a good time, and everyone got a craft to take home for the holidays.

The group was a mix of kids: non-English-speaking German kids, non-German-speaking American kids and bilingual kids. And they all had fun together. Kids are pretty cool.

Snapshots:

Let them eat princess cake.

Before a throng of girls arrives.

The throng starts to work.

Post throng of girls. Oh, the carnage!

Crafty kids.

"Happy birthday, liebe Meggie..."

Meggie really enjoyed the e-mails, cards and surprises she got from the States. Thanks so much for thinking of her.

Birthday cards! Now she can read them to us.

"Ooooooooooh!"

Love to all,
