Off she goes

Here she is on her first day--the school girl--with her new light-up princess sneakers, polka-dotted polar bear socks, her uniform shirt, size 6 jumper (notice the knee coverage), and huuuuuge Hello Kitty backpack.

When I brought Meggie into her classroom this morning, she found her cubby right away (she had scoped it out before) and hung up her backpack. Then she ran to her table and barely beat her sister, who was trying to sit down in her seat to steal her morning playdough.

I told Meggie goodbye, while carrying out a struggling Laurel, who really, really wanted to attend school herself. But Meggie didn't respond, because she didn't hear me. She was too busy introducing herself to her tablemates. And--to quote Mary Poppins, the original Supernanny--that's just as it should be.
